Meet The Founders
David Story
Founder, Pilot Traders
Aviator. Entrepreneur. Systems Architect.
David Story is a commercial pilot, entrepreneur, and systematic trading strategist with nearly two decades of experience in futures, commodities, and options.
His aviation background shaped the core of the Pilot Traders philosophy:
Checklists. Structure. Risk discipline. Repeatability.
David has spent thousands of hours engineering decision frameworks and execution systems, which became the foundation of the Pilot Traders technology suite — including the creation of the Orion execution architecture and the proprietary tools used internally by Pilot Traders Capital.
David previously served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and went on to build multiple aviation and technology businesses, including SoCal Air, a Part-135 charter operator. He brings the same disciplined mindset to trading technology.
He lives in San Diego with his wife and five children.
Francisco Story
Co-Founder
Entrepreneur. Trader. Commercial Pilot.
Francisco Story is an entrepreneurial trader and commercial pilot who combines aviation discipline with modern trading system design. He began trading under David’s mentorship in 2019 and quickly developed a passion for structured, data-driven market analysis.
Before co-founding Pilot Traders, Francisco served as Acting Vice President of SoCal Air, overseeing operations, FAA coordination, and multi-aircraft logistics. His background in aviation workflow management directly influences the structure and discipline embedded into today’s Pilot Traders software systems.
Francisco leads product development, brand strategy, and user experience for Pilot Traders — ensuring every tool we build reflects the clarity, precision, and operational discipline required in both aviation and the markets.
